My orthropedist is recomending a 2nd operation on my right knee. This will be my 2nd operation both LOD and both scopes; he has recommended not being full duty (received in july and I'm still full-my choice). Was your doctor an orthropedist? I'd like a 2nd opinion from someone who has a history w/ 3/4 injuries and w/ the dept and med board, because if i decide to have the surgery I'd likely seek 3/4s'. Thanks..

I don't know who you are so I'll answer the best I can..

If you really want 3/4ths then you have to come off the streets.. It was hard for me to accept being limited but I had to do it..

If your doctor is willing to put on paper that you cannot/will never be able to go full duty again that is half the battle..

My doctor is the Yankee's Orthopedist.. He has done surgeries on many cops, many of whom have gone on to 3/4ths. Another of his patient was former 1st Dep Joe Dunne..
He is well known to the Med Div and the Dept Orthopedist, his word/diagnosis carries a lot of weight from what I saw..

The Med Div will authorize you to see him.. His name is Dr Hershon he has offices in Nassau/NYC..

    Good luck..
